You will prepare planning studies and reports on a range of planning matters, including amendments to local and region planning schemes, regional and local planning strategies, structure plans, local planning studies, the subdivision and development of land (statutory).The roles are part of our Land Use Planning Division and provide planning advice and expertise to the Western Australian Planning Commission, Director General, Assistant Director General – Land Use Planning, Executive Planning Directors, and other internal and external stakeholders.This is an open pool recruitment process for permanent full-time, and fixed term full-time opportunities. This process may be used to fill future similar permanent or fixed-term positions that may arise within the Department and across the Department’s presence (in Perth and the broader regional areas of Western Australia including Albany, Bunbury, Karratha and Broome) in the next 24 months from completion of this recruitment process. The Perth office is located in Perth CBD in a convenient location, above the Perth Underground rail; close to the Wellington Street Bus Station and City CAT services.To be successful for one of these positions, you need to demonstrate:
- An accredited tertiary degree qualification in Urban and Regional Planning and/or Development (or equivalent).
- Detailed working knowledge of the Western Australian planning system and WA planning framework with a strong understanding of complex structure planning proposals.
- Extensive experience working in the Western Australian planning system, or transferable experience in similar systems, including demonstrated experience in both the implementation and design of the planning framework (statutory and strategic planning).
- Proven ability to respond to complex planning proposals and work proactively and collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve planning outcomes.
