We have an exciting opportunity to join us as Principal Policy Officer for 6 months, where you'll contribute in driving Queensland Government's intergovernmental relations strategy by advising on policy, agreements, and legislation. Utilise your analytical and communication skills to lead projects, collaborate with stakeholders, and drive impactful outcomes.
In your new role as the Principal Policy Officer, you will advise on national policy, agreements, Commonwealth-State financial arrangements and legislation to drive the Queensland Government's intergovernmental relations agenda. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and leverage your strong analytical, communication and relationship management skills to provide strategic advice on a broad range of issues, lead projects, and manage crucial government process.
In this role, you will:
Provide advice, information and support to clients and senior management in Treasury on intergovernmental agreements for complex issues relating to social policy, industry policy, program management, financial performance, and risk. Prepare reports, submissions, briefing notes, commentary, presentations, and correspondence on complex policy and financial issues, often within tight timeframes.
Work with Treasury teams and other departments to support whole-of-government processes on housing, skills, health, disability, infrastructure, and a range of government-wide topics as needed.
Support budget planning, development and monitoring in accordance with economic and financial principles underpinning financial management in Queensland Government and the structure of the State's finances.
Develop positive working relationships and partnerships with clients and stakeholders on a range of issues.
What experience you will bring:
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills.
- Broad policy and/or change management expertise.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Experience with financial budgeting and reporting.
- An ability to work independently on complex, time-sensitive tasks.
Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, however, relevant qualifications highly regarded.
