Social Policy Group 

The Social Policy Group (SPG) is a national body with specialist expertise in social policy, social and community cohesion, population diversity, gender equality, access and equity, community participation and inclusion, systems’ responsiveness, community outreach and engagement, and digital and multilingual communications. SPG is an umbrella organisation for a number of national bodies and initiatives, including Harmony Alliance: Migrant and Refugee Women for Change, Migration Council Australia, Migrant and Refugee Health Partnership, Centre of Digital Wellbeing, and Judicial Council on Cultural Diversity, among others.

THRIVE Logan

THRIVE Logan harnesses Logan’s rich diversity by connecting communities and partners to enhance economic and social participation, with the aim of enabling all who live, work and visit there to thrive. It’s a three-year project, funded by the Queensland Government’s Department of Communities and Digital Economy.

About the position

The successful applicant will be required to develop and deliver change and adoption strategies, oversee and follow-up on the successful implementation of programs under the Thrive Logan Project and ensure compliance with contractual obligations, including reporting and timeline management. The applicant will also have to take on a hands-on role within project delivery and will be responsible for engaging community and following-up on agreed-upon action items from consultations and working groups. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist THRIVE Logan’s Project Leads through effective implementation of strategic objectives;
  • Co-designing, developing and delivering plans to ensure successful implementation of the project;
  • Supporting the project evaluation process;
  • Identify and analyse key issues, themes, barriers and needs to align with project and reporting requirements
  • Building and maintaining effective and influential working relationships with both internal and external key stakeholders;
  • Fostering collaboration, including delivery of the project’s Strategic Engagement Plan, to enhance project delivery;
  • Contribute to reports, and correspondence, to prepare timely advice to key stakeholders, ensuring project outcomes are met;
  • Creating project and implementation plans to facilitate smooth project deliverables;
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders, to manage timelines and project delivery;
  • Developing scalable frameworks as part of their go-to-market strategy to support growth;
  • Designing and implementing tools, processes, and documentation to inform and impact stakeholders;
  • Coordinating and delivering events; and
  • Coordinating communication in line with the project’s Communication Plan
  • Participating in weekly team meetings in the Logan office

The mix of activities in this role varies in accordance with work priorities and can shift from week to week. Flexibility, versatility and resourcefulness are essential in our small team. 

Key selection criteria

Essential:

  • 2 years of experience in program management or coordination.
  • Ability to identify and highlight key issues / barriers and opportunities for change.
  • Experience with stakeholder analysis, undertaking impact assessments and change readiness analysis with the capability to build and maintain positive relationships with customers and stakeholders. 
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills demonstrated ability to champion transformation across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Expertise in improving the program understanding and objectives and leading the commitment change through collaborative approach. 
  • Experiencing in monitoring and evaluation of programs and projects. 

Desirable:

  • Understanding of, and commitment to social issues, including the issues of migrants, refugees and women.
  • Project management certification.
  • Experience working in the Human Services sector.
  • Knowledge of government and public policy processes.

Skills, knowledge and experience: 

  • Exceptional communication skills, including active listening and empathy.
  • Strong facilitation and influencing skills, proficient in building and maintaining successful relationships with an extensive range of stakeholders.
  • A solid understanding of, and experience with, effective collaboration.
  • Proven capacity to contribute and implement strategic initiatives, including the ability to plan, manage change and track improvement performance.
  • A successful track record in implementing change management projects, particularly with delivering change impact assessments, and stakeholder mapping and tracking.
  • Planning, organising, managing and mobilising stakeholders.
  • Event management.
  • Problem Solving.
