About this role
You'll be joining the largest public health system in Australia and contribute to a world-class health system in NSW.
The Principal Project Officer will be involved in operational aspects of state-wide patient flow and lead the development and evaluation of programs and projects, driving our objectives to enhance health system performance. You'll collaborate closely with the SMB Director of Operations and Program Support, providing crucial project management expertise to ensure statewide initiatives are executed seamlessly. This is an opportunity to contribute to transformative projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Crown Clerk 11/12, starting salary from $139,787 - $161,663 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week.

What you'll be doing
- Lead and manage a diverse team in operational, policy and program support projects, which are often related to matters of high public interest.
- Use your health operational experience to liaise with internal and external stakeholders across the health system to address real-time challenges related to patient flow, access and demand.
- Draw upon your health policy expertise and operational experience to respond to incoming requests for the Operations and Program Support Unit within tight timeframes.
- Provide timely and comprehensive reporting and escalations to SMB management as required.
- Deliver comprehensive project management support, process improvement initiatives, stakeholder engagement and change management activities, that will drive identification and design of strategies to meet the objective of enhancing patient experience for NSW Health.
- Lead and engage with SMB Directors and portfolio staff undertaking projects and policy evaluation activities for the Ministry of Health and related government agencies to address current and emerging health system performance policy issues.
- Liaise with stakeholders across the system to address real-time challenges to patient flow, access and demand.
- Monitor and track progress of project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
- Relevant tertiary health qualifications and demonstrated operational experience working in the health system, with a strong understanding of patient flow, access and demand.
- Significant experience in developing, analysing and evaluating health policy and projects in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Significant knowledge and understanding of policies and legislation impacting on health system operations, performance and related matters.
- Proven experience in leading and managing health projects in a large and complex service industry organisation, including relevant project management qualifications or equivalent.
- The ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- The ability to work in a small dynamic team environment.
