About This Opportunity 

The BASE facility is building the next generation of mRNA vaccines and therapies to cure human disease. We are a non-profit research services facility located at the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN), the University of Queensland (UQ). We have a successful track record manufacturing mRNA according to the precise requirements of our academic, clinical and industry partners.

We are now seeking a skilled Project Officer/Coordinator to join our team and coordinate mRNA projects, from initial sale to successful delivery.  In this role, you will help to manage the manufacture and delivery of mRNA projects, including supporting sales and ordering, project management, documentation and final delivery of mRNA. You will also more broadly contribute to the strategy, marketing and communication campaigns to help grow the BASE mRNA facility

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Coordination of the progress of mRNA projects through the product cycle, including sales, ordering, organising manufacture, and successful delivery of mRNA.
  • Developing and maintaining project-related standard operating procedures and assurance of standards and logistics.
  • Organising and supporting the delivery of project-related activities, events, consultation activities and and meetings
  • Communications with external customers and stakeholder communication to ensure successful engagement, planning and evaluation of mRNA projects.
  • Coordinating with laboratory operations is to ensure the reliable and timely delivery of mRNA projects.
  • Support sales activities, including invoicing, budgeting and managing customer relations.
  • Support marketing campaigns and activities, such as digital and conference advertising, and social media.
  • Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures related to mRNA projects, including documentation, standards and logistics.
  • Other project-related duties as requested by the supervisor

This role is subject to The University’s Code of Conduct.  

This is a full-time (1 FTE) fixed-term position for up to 12 months at HEW level 5, with the possibility of renewal

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $77,396.47 - $86,029.78, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $90,553.87 - $100,654.84 annually.  As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.

About You  

We are looking for an agile and adaptable project officer, with strong coordination and time management skills combined with excellent communication, attention to detail and the ability to deliver outcomes in a high-pressure, time-critical environment.

You will also have:

  • A degree or diploma related to biomedical, pharmaceutical or life sciences e with subsequent experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education training.
  • Previous experience working as part of a project team or in a similar role would be highly advantageous
  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Project Management and multi-tasking experience, with an agile and flexible approach
  • Problem Identification and Solution Driven
  • Excellent oral, written and stakeholder engagement communication skills
  • ​Experience using project management programs or the ability to quickly learn these skills
  • Demonstrated skills in providing a high level of customer service, including effective interpersonal skills.
  • Effective time management and problem solving skills
  • Previous experience working in a service role or in a research services facility is helpful.
  • Previous experience in sales, marketing and communications is helpful.
