About Us:
At the Department of Environment and Science, the Social Media and Digital Team is at the forefront of promoting departmental issues, activities, and events. We believe in delivering clear and consistent messages to the general community and target audiences, and we are looking for a Principal Social Media Officer to play a key role in achieving this mission.
Your Role:
As the Principal Social Media Officer, you will be at the helm of providing strategic advice on social and digital media best practices. Your responsibilities include researching, writing, and reviewing complex social and digital media strategies and content. You will offer strategic advice in the resolution of sensitive matters, lead and inspire your team, and provide high-level advice to senior executives. Your role extends to implementing social and digital media strategies, facilitating effective communication, and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
What We Are Looking For:
We seek a candidate with a keen understanding of audience dynamics, a knack for identifying compelling stories, and the ability to communicate them creatively through various social and digital media strategies. The successful candidate will bring experience in developing targeted, relevant, accurate, and concise content. Strong negotiation skills, leadership experience, and a commitment to workplace equity and diversity are essential.
You will have:
- Proven experience in developing social and digital media strategies and plans.
- Exceptional writing skills for all digital channels.
- A track record of identifying, analysing, and resolving complex, sensitive, and urgent social and digital media matters.
- Strong negotiating skills to gain confidence and approval from senior executives.
- Leadership and team management experience.
- Excellent communication skills and a history of effective stakeholder engagement.
