Principal Water Engineer | Secondment - Perth

About the role
 
Reporting to the Principal Engineer, the Secondee will complete / support conceptual assessments and design of hydraulic related aspects on a wide variety of mining projects (throughout all design phases) and operations.
 
Key accountabilities:

• Conceptual design and review of water supply and dewatering pumping systems and associated infrastructure
• Contribute to development of the 5 year and life of mine water management plans and capital submissions
• Facilitate, direct and review the work of Contractors and Consultants; and,
• Provide input and guidance to site operational teams on dewatering infrastructure operation / design to ensure compliance to BHP Water Standards and Water Stewardship mandate.
• Provide technical support and review engineering assessments for environmental approval submissions

What Qualifications Do I Require? 

• Engineering Degree (Civil, Environmental or Mechanical)
• Minimum 10 years’ experience working in a Water Engineering Role with proven development and delivery of hydraulic and/or hydrology assessments
• Demonstrable experience in mine dewatering systems, borefields, and mine site services (process, potable, wastewater systems).
• Strong project management and collaboration skills.
• Good communication and engagement skills.
• Stakeholder engagement, influencing and collaboration
• Experience working in a team with Hydrogeologists
• Experience in surface water assessment, including water resource management, flood modelling, storage requirements, flood diversions, pipe crossings, drains, and culverts.
• Project Management across functional and operational teams
• Exposure across a broad spectrum of business activities and processes

 
Minimum 5 years’ experience in: 

• Hydraulic Modelling Software – EPAnet, WaterGems or similiar
• Microsoft Excel
• GIS software – preferably ARCGis or GlobalMapper
