The Adelaide Production and Treatment Alliance is a partnership with SA Water and is responsible for operating and maintaining five water treatment plants and five wastewater treatment plants that deliver services to the Adelaide Metropolitan regions.
Working in partnership with SA Water as one brand and one team, the Adelaide Production & Treatment Alliance (P&T Alliance) will enable a safe and engaged workforce to meet SA Water’s customer service targets and regulated responsibilities at the lowest sustainable cost for Adelaide customers. About the role
The Operations and Maintenance team at Bolivar ensure the high-quality treatment of more than 60% of the wastewater produced by Adelaide. More than third of the wastewater flow is diverted to beneficial reuse. The work you undertake therefore has a significant environmental benefit to the people of South Australia.
We are looking for a Process Technician/Maintainer with Electrical or Mechanical qualification. In this role you will have responsibility to work autonomously and make decisions to optimise plant processes.
Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, the Process Technician Maintainer ensures the efficient and compliant operation of the plant. Ensuring the health and safety of the plant's staff, subcontractors and visitors and that operations of the plant are carried out in an environmentally sound manner.
The Process Technician Maintainers play a key part in the efficient operation and maintenace of the plants. The key responsibilities of the role include:
Process
- Operate and maintain the plants within the requirements of the Alliance
- Monitor and respond to plant issues including SCADA alarms and performance trends
- Monitor plants process and make necessary adjustments in conjunction with the Plant Supervisor and Engineer
- Ensure that operational performance targets are achieved on wastewater treatment and reuse plants, to enable optimal operational performance and efficiency.
- Perform plant maintenace as per maximo scheduling
- Ensure all duties are performed as per the agreed Work Method Statements and procedures, Safe Work Instructions and Permit to Work system
- Monitor site activities to ensure compliance to site environmental procedures.
- Develop and continually improve operational practices and procedures.
- Brief the Plant Supervisor on a daily basis.
- Inform the Plant Supervisor in the event of an incident or emergency.
- Undertake general operational duties as required.
- Perform sampling and laboratory testing to confirm optimum operation of the plant and functionality of instrumentation
- Identify optimisation opportunities and assist in developing plans to optimise plant and processes.
- Support Capital Works that are ongoing on the site. Participate in meetings with Contractors to review scope, provide input into design and hazard analysis through to construction, installation and commissioning works.
- Ensure adequate stocks of chemicals are available for the continued operation of the plant and order chemicals as required.
- Effectively manage power usage and find improved efficiencies to reduce the associated costs.
- General housekeeping of plant, equipment, buildings, structures and surrounds.
- Participate in regular trainings to maintain skills and knowledge to the level required for plant operation.
- Perform an afterhours oncall function, including weekend rostered work
Client Relations
- Develop and maintain open and honest communication with staff from SA Water.
Subcontractors/ Suppliers
- Monitor works carried out by subcontractors to ensure work is carried out to the appropriate standard and all Health and Safety requirements are met.
- Any other reasonable duties as directed
- All duties to be carried out in alignment with SUEZ and SA Water partnership values.

- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and show initiative
- Strong communication skills including good telephone manners and written skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work as a team member or independently
- Current unrestricted driver’s licence
- Required to work flexible hours to meet demands and be able to travel to metropolitan sites and places where necessary.
- Required to be on call for nominated water treatment plants on a roster basis which includes additional payment and allowances.
Qualifications
- Qualifications in a mechanical or electrical trade (desirable)
- Certificate III in Water Operations (desirable)
