The Bloomfield Group owns and operates two open-cut coal mines in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales. These operations are our Rix’s Creek Mine northwest of Singleton, and our Bloomfield Mine east of Maitland. Coal from the Rix’s Creek Mine and Bloomfield Mine is railed to the Port of Newcastle and loaded onto ships using Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS). Bloomfield is a founding member and shareholder of PWCS.
The Bloomfield Group also proudly owns and operates Kings Engineering, a leading NSW Engineering business and a biofuel processing operation.
About the role
The Bloomfield Group is seeking to appoint a Procurement Officer to be based at our Rix's Creek Mine and work across our businesses. This role will be responsible for the purchase of goods and services at lowest total cost of ownership, in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Uphold governance of Procurement function through the application of the Purchasing & Supply Management System
- Supporting users to comply with the Purchasing & Supply Management System
- Provide operational and corporate managers and personnel with an expert internal resource to complete the acquisition of routine goods and services
- Critically review approved requisitions in accordance with the Management System. Convert to Purchase Orders, or escalate as appropriate.
- Support the operations in sourcing quotes as required
- Maximise on cost savings through purchasing of supplies and materials
- Support the booking of Transport requests and scheduling of internal transport
- Support the completion of all necessary financial processes associated with the purchasing and warehouse functions
- Support the ongoing relationship with the suppliers by working with the Procurement Superintendent to conduct regular performance reviews, managing variations and price changes, monitoring and verifying that the supplier delivers the agreed benefits
- In accordance with business needs and lowest achievable cost, make customer satisfaction a high priority such that customers receive responsive services including proactively engaging with and seeking feedback for continuous improvement
Essential Criteria
- 2 years’ experience in purchasing and inventory in warehouse or industrial environment (mining preferred)
- Computer literacy with preference in business ERP package, preferably Pulse
- Sound working knowledge of industry (open cut coal mining preferred), equipment and parts and willingness to understand the business needs and requirements
- Strong organisational, planning and operational skills with ability to communicate and influence others
- Good communication skills (both written and verbal)
