As the market leader in a growing category, we’re looking for a Data Specialist to play a pivotal role within the Product and Pricing team, tasked with in-depth analysis of a complex dataset on veterinary claims as well as Product Design and Distribution Obligations (“PDDO”) metrics across a range of coverages and combinations distributed through numerous partners and direct channels. The team are passionate about what they do and love to move the dial.
You’ll use your smarts to help uncover the key drivers affecting both historical and anticipated claims inflation in the insurer's book of business as well as play a pivital role in the day-to-day monitoring of our product performance against the regulatory framework and product performance guidelines. This highly visible role within PetSure leverages and builds relationships in an emerging and fast-growing category of consumer spend. The role will also be entrusted with identifying broader consumer trends, contributing and aiding with macro and micro perspectives to the business strategy. The role requires high-level analytical acumen, the ability to operate independently, and a readiness to report insights for senior executives on short notice.

What you’ll do
As the Product and Pricing Data ISpecialist you will contribute through:
- Data Analysis: Utilize advanced statistical techniques to dissect a multifaceted dataset of veterinary claims alongside readily available public data
- Trend Identification: Isolate both historical and predictive trends in claims inflation, as well as broader consumer trends
- High-Visibility Reporting: Prepare and present impactful findings to the actuarial team, product team , sometimes on short notice. Leverage these presentations to build relationships across departments
- Modelling: Develop, test, and refine predictive models for both claims inflation and consumer trends
- Monitoring: Analyse and refine our PDDO Dashboards against product performance guidelines on a monthly and quarterly basis to track if each product is performing within set thresholds.
- Reporting: Prepared required reporting (using MS Word and MS PPT) which highlights low performance and associated action plans to rectify as well as identify trends and insights.
- Ad Hoc Analysis: Execute specialized analysis as requested by senior management, providing both micro and macro perspectives.
What you’ll bring
- A love of pets!
- Tertiary qualifications in Actuarial, Mathematics, Statistics or university degree with a strong mathematical component
- Prior experience in a pricing or data analytics role
- Understanding of the General Insurance environment across Underwriting, Product, Pricing, and Customer strategies
- Understanding of the regulatory framework as it applies to general insurance (an asset)
- Strong ability to analyse complex data and provide actionable insights
- Attention to Detail: Precision in parsing data to identify intricate trends and anomalies
- Skill in distilling complex analytical findings into concise, understandable reports and presentations for a broad audience
- An innate curiosity to explore data deeply and question prevailing assumptions. A curious mind is a must!
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders
