As a pivotal member of our close-knit crew, you'll dive into the exciting world of product development.You will be responsible for researching and developing ideas and processes for new products that solve customer pain points, creating new Product Designs and technical specifications, improving the performance and design of existing products and overseeing quality, compliance, and packaging of final product.Based in Ingleburn, New South Wales.The Impact You'll Make:New Product Development – Design, develop & deliver compliant new products and packaging in collaboration with Product Management on time and on budget.Product Testing and Compliance – Support quality and compliance for packaging and finished products. Manage quality assurance by implementing test methodology and undertaking test engineering, product performance & validation programs, ensuring all project and product deliverables comply with performance criteria. Develop and manage standard operating procedures and work instructions to support quality and compliance. Lead by example and implement best practise utilisation of the engineering toolbox of DFMEA, DFx, Root Cause Analysis, Rapid Prototyping, FEA, DOE, and Six Sigma methodology to ensure highest quality solutions.Competitor Benchmarking – Implement benchmark testing based on an understanding of customer needs and product value propositions. Work with suitable external testing labs to support ongoing business needs. Test competitor products as needed by the product manager and prepare briefing reports to key stakeholders.Product Specifications – Implement specification changes to existing products by liaising with product and end user teams to understand product and application requirement modification and deliver specifications. Develop and maintain product master data to support strategic sourcing cost saving and value engineering initiatives including development and maintenance of Technical Data Sheets (TDS) and Material Safety Data Sheets (SDS) where required.Quality Investigations of End User Issues - Undertake quality investigations of underperforming products as required. Lead the resolution of customer quality complaints, including problem definition, root cause analysis, corrective and preventative actions, and provision of written reports. Prepare reports on time with recommendations on resolution of end user issue and of any changes required to product specifications through outsourced manufacturers.Technical Application Expert - Provide business segments with expert knowledge of product specification and application via technical bulletins, technical data sheets (TDS), training programs, hands on demonstration tools and direct end user engagement.Packaging Development and Testing – contribute to the development of sustainable and innovative packaging in line with APCO 2025 targets.Simplification – use data and product knowledge to support product and packaging simplification processes and projects.Talent Management – Proactively engage project stakeholders to manage deliverable scope, time & cost expectations, and risk, thereby achieving a cross-functional shared risk position.About you:
- Engineering, Industrial Design or related;
- Ability to design a product from scratch and develop technical drawings and specifications to a level that can be manufactured;
- Translating a value proposition into a new product concept;
- Interpreting related Codes, Standards, Regulations, and Legislation;
- Demonstrated Stakeholder and Project Management skills;
- Development and application of testing methodologies;
- Technical writing;
- Proven decision-maker. Identifying and understanding issues, problems, and opportunities; comparing data from different sources to draw conclusions; choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; taking action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and likely consequences; and
- Ability to make complex concepts simple.
