We are seeking a dynamic Product Development Engineer to join our Research & Development team. This role can be based either at our new Fortitude Valley office or with our Head Office team in Mackay.
You shall be joining a business that is known for developing world-class instrumentation products for the analysis of materials within the mining industry.
Reporting to the Research & Development Manager, the primary objective of this role is to drive the full Product Development process from initial inception to production, provide expert, RTI product advice to all key stakeholders and exceed RTI’s customer expectations.
Key objectives:
- Managing a variety of projects focusing on the development of instrumentation for the analysis of materials in the mining industry
- Leading the design and development of new products and enhancing existing products to meet customer expectations effectively
- Building strong and ongoing relationships with our customers to understand their expectations and product knowledge
- Providing technical expertise throughout the product lifecycle including design, implementation, build, test and release infrastructure
- Working with the internal field based, engineering, technical support, marketing, sales and production teams to ensure product requirements are understood and customer satisfaction goals are met
Core Responsibilities:
- Generating new product design concepts and development
- Overseeing field testing and feedback collection
- Developing, revising and maintaining specifications as per product requires, while keeping up to date with industry-wide standard practices and regulatory standards
- Accountable for developing and maintain standardised technical specifications
- Supporting and advising our onsite production and field service teams regarding product specification
- Supporting the Service Delivery and Customer Success Managers with the prioritisation of jobs and customer interactions.
- Providing technical support for customers – documentation/best practices and training to ensure high-quality design and minimal technical support issues
- Identifying value engineering opportunities across existing products
- Supporting the customer success team in troubleshooting customer issues and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
- Investigating, problem solving and documenting product issues
- Actively participating in meetings as required. You will need to be able to provide relevant technical information, including relevant standards, identified issues, design constraints and design opportunities. Keep accurate notes to enable action of assigned tasks.
Technical/Specialist skills:
- An understanding of current global trends in mining/technology operations and product management (an advantage)
- An understanding of the physics of radiation transmission.
- An ability to learn/understand new concepts in physics and math.
- Some experience in electrical circuit design would be useful
- Understanding of short and long-term business strategy and implications for physical Product Development and maintenance
- Excellent writing, reporting, presentation, and communication skills at all levels in an organisation
- Demonstrated ability to take a product from concept to production
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in new software development
- 3+ years complex stakeholder and project management
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant field
