Silanna is seeking a passionate, self motivated and collaborative Product Development Engineer who is excited to be a key member of an innovative team to develop new state-of-the-art UV emitter products and solutions.
When you join our team, as the Product Development Engineer you will be responsible for working alongside other Engineers and the Marketing team to develop new UV emitter product and solutions through their lifecycles, including proof-of-concept and prototyping, qualification, transfer into production, and end of life. Working with us will see you utilise your personable approach to develop positive and open relationships whilst you use your 'out-of-the-box” thinking to derive unique or imaginative solutions that support the development of products.
You will undertake a critical role that is focused on developing UV emitter products that comply with product specifications and datasheets and relevant industry and regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Ensuring new UV emitter products are rapidly developed and promoted through stage gates, meeting all deliverables at each stage.
- Collaborating with Epitaxy, Device Integration and Product Test teams in the research and development of epi and device processing technologies, including but not limited to the collection, analysis and summary of characterization, qualification, and production test data.
- Identifying and understanding the needs of both internal and external customers and research and develop scalable package level solutions to address those needs.
- Identifying appropriate external assembly houses for small-scale manufacturing of proof-of-concept and prototype parts and maintain relationships to support Product Development activities.
- Supporting in-house proof-of-concept and prototype development activities, including in-house assembly and product testing.
- Collaborating with Application teams in the research and development of system level solutions for specific applications.
- Addressing product issues expeditiously, including failures in the field.
- Liaising and coordinating the analysis and identification of the root cause.
- Generating multiple potential solutions, identifying their associated risks and determining and committing to the most appropriate course of action.
- Co-ordinate the establishment of product baseline characteristics and keep up to date with competitor baseline characteristics.
- Degree qualified in Electronics or Electrical Engineering or Physics or equivalent experience.
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in Product Engineering in one or more of the following areas: assembly / test / reliability/ failure analysis for optoelectronic components (eg. LEDs) and packages.
- Experience in and hands-on knowledge of structured improvement techniques and associated tools - Statistical Engineering, JMP, Design
- Experience in optoelectronics assembly development including materials selection and process qualification.
- Experience in dealing with external suppliers and assembly houses for prototyping.
- Experience in optical and electrical characterization techniques and hands on assembly and packaging experience. (Desirable)
- Experience in one or more of the following computer languages: Python, MATLAB, C/C+. (Desirable)
- In depth experience and understanding in one or more of the following: epitaxial processes, device fabrication processes, device physics, optoelectronic device testing and optoelectronics component packaging. (Desirable)
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and also to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision and always focusing on timely completion of project deliverables.
