We are Fyna Foods! We have been crafting confectionery for over 70 years. Our brands are a marketing dream - Wizz Fizz, Pink Lady Chocolates, Super Liquorice Co., Bush Friends and Ballantyne. We are a successful and well-known FMCG, looking to increase our market presence and continue our growth strategy. As a result, we now have an opportunity for an experienced Product and Packaging Development Technologist to join us. 

THE ROLE 

This role will involve managing new and updated product and packaging development from concept through to launch. With your strong technical expertise, you will work closely with the business to develop new product, commercial opportunities and efficiency improvements.  

You will be responsible for the management and preparation of documentation and data for all new and existing product and packaging developments across our product range, seasonal lines, private label and contract. 

You will lead development and technical aspects of NPD projects using sound project management and be a key contributor within these cross functional teams. 

You will also: 

• Source and coordinate with suppliers regarding packaging and raw materials; 
• Create and manage all artwork briefs (regulatory information, ingredient listing, etc.); 
• Liaise with private label product developers and their designers regarding Private Label New Product Development projects; 
• Liaise with QA team regarding NPD; 
• Work closely with Finance and Production in order to ensure new and existing production related forms are updated and accurate, including Specifications, Bill of Materials, Batch Controls and product costings; 
• Manage recipe management from concept to launch including data gathering, recipe content, material information, update work instructions and recipes in the system; 
• Manage production trials and costings; 
• Maintain bar code registers; 
• Develop and manage packaging and labelling requirements for accuracy and compliance; 

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE 

You will have significant experience in a similar role and demonstrated experience in Product and Packaging Development from concept stage to commercialisation within the food industry, combined with tertiary qualifications in Food Technology, Food Science or a related discipline.  

You will have a thorough knowledge of food regulations and food safety. Naturally, you’ll possess strong skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional project teams.  

You will have a high attention to detail, strong analytical, problem solving, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work well autonomously as well as within a team environment.
