u&u Recruitment Partners is excited to partner with Container Exchange (COEX) to recruit their newly created role - Digital Product and Innovation Manager. Container Exchange is appointed by the Queensland government to manage and grow Queensland's container refund scheme - Containers for Change.

About the role

This newly created role is responsible for leading the market and customer research functions in the context of supporting the strategy and product function. Partnering with the Product and Innovation Managers, the Product Researcher is responsible for gathering customer feedback, analysing customer needs and preferences, and conducting market research to support the function, identify new product opportunities or improve the performance of in-market solutions.

A summary of key responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute comprehensive market research and insights across industry, customer and third party, to develop a deep understanding of customers behaviours, motivations, barriers, and needs;
  • Undertake extensive research into customer interaction with existing products to identify gaps, potential innovations, and areas for improvement;
  • Define product research methodologies, frameworks and reporting that will examine demographic and behavioural data to spot customer needs and challenges and accurately inform product roadmaps;
  • Conduct qualitative, quantitative, and ethnographic research, such as surveys, interviews, focus groups and observations, across the entire customer journey from a product perspective;
  • Provide consultation and support to the business on the value of research and how it can inform business strategy and performance, developing formal business cases, presentations, and reports as required;
  • Brief and manage external research professionals and participate in the development, updating, and monitoring of annual budget plans to ensure appropriate allocation of resources;
  • Build and maintain a sound understanding of consumer recycling behaviours, motivations, barriers, and needs; and
  • Build and maintain understanding of broader stakeholders, including relevant Government, industry bodies, operators, and third-party providers.

About you

This opportunity requires an experienced research and insights practitioner with a passion for driving social change through customer research and product innovation. To be considered for this role, your background must meet the following requirements.

  • Bachelor's degree in a field such as business, marketing, research, or data / behavioural science;
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in leading consumer research and insights projects (product experience preferred, but not essential);
  • Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative analysis, with a strong background in data visualisation tools, data analytics, and developing sound insights from data;
  • Proven experience in designing and applying a variety of research methodologies and frameworks, including surveys, interviews, focus groups etc;
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, underpinned by a truly collaborative approach and a proven ability to build strong and effective partnerships both internally and externally;
  • Previous experience working in a not-for-profit, Government or environmental sustainability organisation desirable; and
  • Genuine interest in influencing and enabling all people to better participate in a circular economy.
