Dicky Bill Australia is a family owned and operated, national horticulture business with operations in both Queensland and Victoria. We are specialists in growing Fresh Cut Salads, Cos and Herbs for supermarket chains (both domestic & international), independent retail, local restaurants, and major metropolitan markets.
The Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Production Manager to oversee the operations of our fresh produce facility specializing in washing, and packing leafy vegetables in Maffra, Gippsland. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing and production management.
Reporting to the Site Operations Manager, the role will be hands-on, showcasing your exceptional organizational and leadership skills – driving work centre productivity and DIFOTQ performance against KPIs. This role will require you to mentor and develop your Work Centre Team Leaders and teams, positively impacting the production site’s culture and safety.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide ‘on the ground’ management and leadership of multiple factory work centres (and subsequent teams) to ensure efficient daily production. Assess work centre KPIs & DIFOTQ metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementation of corrective actions as required
- Ensure labour and cost of production expenses are tightly managed across these work centres, including managing staff rosters/timesheets, and liaising with logistics and planning coordinator to ensure streamlined production plans
- Foster a team culture aligned to SQF, HACCP, HARPS and other relevant food safety standards
- Control and document all SOP training and competencies across the factory team to ensure relevant legislative compliance with a key focus on OHS
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements without compromising quality or safety
- Communication of key production information and non-conformance/rejections to key stakeholders in a timely manner
- Ensuring scheduled equipment maintenance and break downs are attended to correctly and in a timely manner, including preventative maintenance
- Managing product waste tightly in accordance with agreed processes
- Addressing staff performance issues as they arise
- Lead and motivate a diverse team of production staff, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities.
Key skills and attributes:
- Previous production and manufacturing experience in a similar role and/or industry
- Highly organized with the ability to lead and motivate your team and ensure efficiencies/outputs
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- An understanding of GMP, HACCP, SQF, HARPS and Food Safety principles
- High risk tickets and experience on machinery/production lines advantageous
- An understanding of LEAN manufacturing highly desired
- Ability to work in busy environment and under pressure
- Willing to learn and be able to adapt quickly to changing environment
