About the Role
Due to the continued growth of the Northern Operations business, we are currently recruiting an experienced Production Manager – Kill Floor & Render, to join our Riverview based leadership team in a newly created position. Reporting to the General Manager, Operations – Northern, this position will focus on five fundamental outcomes including:
- To provide effective and efficient planning, organisational control within the operational areas of the plant;
- To promote a culture and awareness based on people and food safety;
- To lead and coach the senior leaders within operational areas, and ensure safe and cost-effective operations;
- To ensure the production of a quality product which meets all customer, QA/food safety, OHS and environmental requirements and standards; &
- To build an engaged workforce and instil a work ethic focused on Safety, Food Safety, Quality of Product and pride of workmanship.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Achieving effective control of operating costs to maximise plant efficiency and profitability
- Participating in the planning of future development strategies to achieve company goals and objectives including preparation of capital expenditure requests
- Ensuring all operational activities comply with statutory obligations
- Preparing or managing the preparation of reports, forecasts and budgets for approval by general management
- Monitoring and controlling operational activities and communicating the outcomes to facilitate ongoing improvement
- Promoting the company's favourable image to client’s, suppliers and the community
- Partnering with Human Resources to increase productivity and efficiency
- Motivating staff through feedback, training and the creation of an environment which promotes job satisfaction
- Ensuring company assets are maintained in an acceptable manner
- Participating in all relevant audits and providing support as required
- Maintaining awareness of good industrial relations
- Ensuring the plant is in a state of readiness for each day’s operation
- Completing the annual HR performance cycle
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in a business, engineering or other related discipline
- Previous meat industry experience (ideally 5 years) in a senior supervisory position
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in communications, delegations and supervisory skills with strong interpersonal skills
- Be willing to undertake further training to upgrade skills as required
- Demonstrated computer literacy in MS Excel, Word and Outlook
- Exceptional ability to prioritise and multi-task
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as within a team environment
