Sharma's Kitchen is the leading dairy manufacturer of Indian products within Australia, established for over 25 years their products have been developed with authenticity and quality in mind. The story began in 1998 when the Indian diaspora within Australia began to boom and Indian food favorite's were missing from store shelves. With the goal of delivering the taste that customers had grown up with Sharma's Kitchen products were born. These include Paneer (Cheese), Yoghurt, Mango Lassi, Milk Badam, Ghee, Kaju Katli and more.
The role
As we move into our new production site in Fairfield East this is an expansive role requiring strategic vision and leadership. The brand new site with new fully automated machinery from Europe will allow the company to progress into it’s international growth phase. The Production Manager will improve and enhance all production processes to ensure the highest standards are being met with the implementation of best practices, values and SOP's
Duties/Responsibilities
- Develop production schedules, workflows, and plans to meet demand, shift KPI's, deadlines and calculate milk volume requirement
- Identify and address production issues on the floor with a hands on approach
- Manage goods and production related supplier selection process and price negotiation
- Manage projects aimed at improving production, expansion and new product launches
- Understand key contributors of the Total Production Cost
- Understand our food safety management system and enforce compliance with the HACCP plan including cleaning procedures.
- Maintain a safe and hygienic workplace, coordinating toolbox meetings and WHS training for all employees
- Implement training programs and induction processes across the site
- Monitor equipment maintenance processes to ensure minimal downtime
- Set targets and schedules adhering to budgets, product targets, staff rostering and ensure daily reports are completed
- Capacity planning on a weekly and day to day basis, including managing skill availability i.e. manpower (staff recruitment), machinery, equipment.
- Develop existing team leaders further and promote a team- based culture
- Conduct performance reviews and manage culture with senior management support
Skills required
- 3+ Years experience in a production management role
- A strong understanding of HACCP, GMP principles and training requirements
- The ability to lead, manage and motivate teams with good problem solving skills
- Intermediate excel skills
- Good time-management skills
- Ability to manage a diverse group of staff
