About us
SeaO2 Algae have built a world class facility to grow Nannochloropsis microalgae – a new “superfood” – in 3.2ha of open ponds located in Woodburn, NSW. The product is used as an ingredient in foods and supplements (similar to Spirulina), or refined for use in nutraceutical applications.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Lead a small team to deliver production and maintenance operations.
- Deliver efficient and reliable production and processing operations, including meeting relevant standards and legislative requirements (e.g. GMP).
- Manage maintenance of water and mechanical plant and equipment.
- Co-ordinate procurement of nutrient / supplies with production schedule and finished goods logistics.
- Perform a range of hands-on tasks required for the operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the facility if required.
- Train and develop staff, acknowledging that microalgae cultivation experience is rare.
- Ensure a safe working environment and OHS compliance.
Qualifications & experience
- Tertiary education in engineering or science, or equivalent level of experience.
- Strong organisational skills, and ability to make decisions independently.
- Comfortable managing COGs and performing basic financial analysis.
- Proficiency with MS applications, and comfortable with a largely automated / PLC controlled site.
- Experience managing staff and suppliers.
- (Microalgae experience is not essential. Experience in aquaculture, bulk water operations, or other analogous industry is adequate.)
