Position Overview: The Production Planner will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the production processes. This position requires a meticulous planner with a keen eye for detail and strong analytical skills. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with various departments to optimise production schedules, manage inventory levels, and assist in the delivery of exceptional products on time and within budget.
Responsibilities:
- Production Planning: Develop and maintain comprehensive production plans to meet customer demand while maximising efficiency and minimising costs.
- Scheduling: Create and manage production schedules, taking into account factors such as resource availability, lead times, and production capacity.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods, ensuring adequate stock levels to meet production requirements while minimising excess inventory.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with procurement, manufacturing, and logistics teams to ensure seamless execution of production plans and timely delivery of products to customers.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimisation and efficiency improvements within the production process. Implement best practices to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
- Quality Assurance: Work closely with quality control teams to maintain high standards of product quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Communication: Communicate production schedules, priorities, and any changes to relevant stakeholders across the organisation. Foster collaboration and alignment between departments to achieve production goals.
- Reporting: Prepare regular reports and performance metrics to track production KPIs, identify trends, and support data-driven decision-making by management.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain management within a general engineering manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make sound decisions.
- Proficiency in production planning software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented and highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
