THE ROLEReporting directly to the General Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Using SolidWorks 3D CAD to develop components and assemblies as necessary in the continuous development of new and existing products
- Preparation of accurate and complete documentation for manufacture including part dimensions, production notes, materials, finishes, etc.
- Determining and reviewing the cost-appropriateness of quality and durability specifications for all products, and developing procedures for product testing as may be required.
- Preparing and maintaining Bills of Materials and costs.
- Maintaining product compliance with Australian Design Rules and Australian Standards.
- Involvement in the continuous process of reviewing, improving and documenting production processes, to improve and maintain quality standards and minimise waste in all its forms.
- Support the Production Team with Engineering expertise Research, develop, implement and document continuous improvement opportunities in process & procedure
- Setting up and maintaining production schedules and generating production documentation
- Preparing instruction sheets and assembly guides as necessary to ensure production and assembly standards are clearly documented and communicated.
- Regular liaison with company department managers and personnel as required in the course of meeting production and sales schedules, gaining information about service and warranty issues etc.
- The preparation of weekly project progress reports.
The successful candidate(s) will have the following essential qualifications, experience and skills:
- A mid-level or higher degree of competency using SolidWorks 3D CAD software or similar, to develop moulded products and CNC processed raw sheet products
- A proven mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical systems and engineering concepts
- Analytical and logical problem-solving skills
- A sound and methodical approach in assessing and validating options for materials and manufacture.
- Excellent attention to detail and a respectable comprehension of what attributes and characteristics create ‘product quality’.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Competency using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Energetic team player with a positive 'can do' attitude, integrity and discretion.
