Summary of Job:

The key responsibility of the Production Planner/Scheduler is to development and maintain the master schedule that achieves both customer satisfaction and effective utilisation of company resources in direct support of company customer delivery and financial goals. You are responsible for the Operations role in Forecast to Delivery of customer orders and monitoring program status against the master schedule, you will drive action where necessary to protect both the internal operations plans and the customer delivery plans.   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a realistic master schedule that meets financial targets. Revise the master schedule, when necessary, based on an analysis of supply and demand that takes all relevant input into account 
  • Evaluate forecasts and internal sales orders for repairs, production and development hardware for reasonableness, and work with stakeholders to resolve issues to create a workable 18-month Supply Plan. This will require managing an active RCCP/CRP process in conjunction with the Supply Cycle of the IBP process
  • Manage the Supply inputs into the monthly IBP cycle. Ensuring risks and bottlenecks are highlighted around Capacity, Head count, Inventory or Equipment
  • Monitor production/operations plans and implement appropriate remediation where deviations occur 
  • Release Production and Repair Orders, and their associated Material Orders, ensuring MRP demands are accurate for the Buyer to execute.  Analyse resource (manpower, tools, equipment, parts) requirements, orders, schedules, and expedite assigned items
  • Manage competing demands for finite resources, and coordinate with other departments/stakeholders to provide a workable production/operations schedule 
  • Provide delivery information to sales team based on capacity (based on RCCP analysis), material constraints and lead-times.  Monitor scope of progress of production/operations schedules and provide regular reports to key Customers and internal stakeholders, highlighting items not on schedule
  • Liaise with sales team and customers to prioritise orders and schedule accordingly 
  • Manage the Supply inputs to the Quotation Process, ensuring accurate Material Requirements with their Costs and Labour estimates are in line with expectation.  Monitor actual results against estimates to improve future accuracy
  • Work with Intercompany Supply Chains to improve material delivery performance into the Supply Plan
  • Ensure departments buy into the plan and execute when required
  • Release Work in Process to the operations areas in a manner that supports the internal build plan and optimizes workflow in both Assembly and Test and Stores areas 
  • Maintain the integrity of data that supports the material requirements planning and capacity requirements planning processes. Monitor Item Planning Data Parameters to ensure MRP executes to optimal outcomes, balancing Inventory level with Availability 
  • Develop and maintain operations hours for master scheduled items for Capacity Planning 
  • Maintain DIFOT reporting 
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels as part of the site inventory policy to attain satisfactory customer service levels while minimizing inventory investment.  Create Supply Plans around pre purchasing high value products to mitigate long lead times 

Qualifications / experience 

  • Qualified in APICS/CPIM or CIPS 
  • Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management/Business Management is advantageous. 
  • Tertiary qualified in Lean to at least a green belt level

Other: 

  • NV1 clearance or eligible for NV1 clearance 
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
  • Proficiency with QAD or comparable ERP systems 
  • Excellent oral and written communication 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • High level of motivation and willingness to learn 
  • Strong work ethic 
  • English (Business level: spoken & written)

Work Experience: 

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role

Location: Heatherton (Melbourne office)

Travel: Occasional interstate/overseas travel required
