Production Team Leader - Thomastown, VIC
The Opportunity
This is a permanent full-time position with a leading Australian manufacturing organisation. Join our team at Thomastown with onsite parking, a fantastic team dynamic, and a supportive work culture.
As a Production Team Leader reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible to lead the Production Teams to attain operational excellence in safety, quality, and productivity. Foster team achievements through personnel development, asset maintenance, safety enhancements, and financial support.
Hours: Monday to Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm with optional overtime available.
Key Responsibilities
Site Operations:
- Establish operational excellence in safety, personnel, performance, and customer service, prioritizing planned improvements
- Instil a proactive safety culture and implement policies to integrate safety into daily operations
- Lead best practice initiatives, fostering collaboration to drive continuous improvement
- Manage staffing levels to meet production and quality targets, coordinating with Operations and NEAT teams for projects
- Define and track KPIs, ensuring accurate measurement and reporting for performance communication
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation impacting warehouse and transport environments
People Development & Management:
- Cultivate a culture of SOP compliance, continuous improvement, and collaboration
- Foster a high-performance team accountable for their actions, maintaining exceptional team culture
- Facilitate frequent team briefings, providing visibility on targets, achievements, and safety requirements, encouraging feedback
- Oversee day-to-day activities such as scheduling, leave approvals, and overtime organisation
Required Skills & Experience:
- Demonstrated 3+ years of experience in operations
- Proven track record of managing people for over 2 years
- Actively promotes safety, health, compliance, and sustainability initiatives
- Experienced in successfully navigating change management processes
- Engages with an active, hands-on approach, prioritizing tangible results
- Exhibits an inspiring and motivational leadership style, adept at coaching and fostering development
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, fostering relationships both internally and externally
- Skilled in cultivating and leading high-performance teams
- Values open and transparent communication
- Upholds a high standard of ethics and integrity
- Holds oneself accountable and consistently delivers on commitments
