About the Program Tawata Pari…
Tawata Pari is an exciting new Aboriginal and Torres Strait family (Aboriginal) scoping program funded by the Department for Child Protection (DCP). The multi positioned team will be responsible for delivering an Aboriginal specific approach to scoping the kinship system to identify kinship placement for Aboriginal children and young people in residential care placements.
The role…
The Program Coordinator is accountable to the Senior Manager.
Your role is to support a team of five Senior Placement Practitioners to scope and place children and young people in residential care with family and kin.
Assess suitable placement matches placement referrals and liaise with Placement Services.
You will also be responsible for facilitating the development and implementation of, services, and systems to support the team in achieving its stated goals and strategic direction.
Work collaboratively with DCP staff, external agencies, families, and kin to assist with matching and placement planning for children and young people within residential care.
Undertake critical, sensitive, and complex negotiation processes and/or consultations with other relevant internal and external stakeholders including the assessment of the relative merits of projects, programs, services, and service options.
Use a culturally accountable model of practice which enables families to mobilise their resources.
About you...
- Knowledge about Aboriginal genealogy and the use of genealogical sources for the purposes of family placement scoping.
- Can engage in culturally sensitive matters respectfully which may include complex cross culture consultations and negotiation.
- Can work collaboratively with DCP, external agencies, families, and navigate the Aboriginal Kinship System to assist with matching and placement planning
- Demonstrated experience in engaging successfully with Aboriginal children, young people and families in the delivery of government services or programs.
- Experience in managing teams.
- 2 years employment with DCP.
- Knowledge of statutory child protection and Out of Home care services
About the pay...
- Position is classified under the SCHADS, salary $102,544.52 plus superannuation (full-time equivalent)

Other requirements…
- You must hold a current South Australian Drivers Licence or a licence which permits you to drive in South Australia.
- Successful candidates will be required to clear and maintain probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check (Police Clearance), Working with Vulnerable People Check and Working with Children Check (applicants need to hold a current WWCC to apply).
