This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly effective and empowered individual to join our growing leadership team, as Program CoordinatorStudent Services (Senior School). This position provides a unique opportunity to continue to build and develop a growing team, and we are therefore seeking applicants with leadership success. As we are a growing school, we will have a new senior school Student Services centre opening in Term 3 and this role will therefore focus on support for Years 10/11 in 2024 and Years 10-12 from 2025.

The Program CoordinatorStudent Services (Senior School) will be a key leader within our school. The successful applicant should display capacity to support student achievement through a positive learning framework and approach. You will ideally manage and deliver relevant programs and initiatives to support staff and students and enhance learning conditions and positive school culture. You will be a key member of the school leadership team, working towards the deliverables within the business plan.

The role of Program Coordinator - Student Services (Senior School) is dynamic, strategic, proactive, fast-paced and hands on. The successful applicant would work collaboratively with the Program Coordinator - Student Services (Lower School), Student Services personnel and Executive and Leadership teams to develop, manage, and deliver relevant programs and initiatives to support the school's direction. They will ideally be an effective communicator who is able to handle difficult conversations in a compassionate and empathetic way.

As Program Coordinator, you should be responsible for monitoring and reporting on senior school students in relation to attendance, behaviour, social/emotional wellbeing, educational engagement and students at educational risk. This role is an integral part of our Student Services area and the successful applicant should display their ability to motivate and lead by example. As Program Coordinator, you would provide support to teachers in student wellbeing and work in a collaborative team to meet all Schools Curriculum and Standards Authority requirements through various strategies such as targeted intervention and student case management. To ensure high quality outcomes for students, the Program CoordinatorStudent Services should build positive, professional working relationships with students, staff, parents, and stakeholders. The role oversees relevant Student Services activities, interventions, and workflow. A main component of the role also includes data analysis and tracking skills to support key initiatives and work streams.

About Us

Located in the northern suburb of Alkimos with sweeping ocean views, Alkimos College opened in 2020 with our foundation Year 7 cohort, providing local intake area students with access to an exceptional secondary education in world-class learning facilities. Each year we will add an additional cohort, until we reach our full complement of Year 7 -12 in 2025.

Stage 1 buildings include administration, Student Services, library, gymnasium, fitness centre, food studios, cafeteria, technologies, general classrooms, nine specialist science laboratories and nature play area. Shared oval and community facilities with the City of Wanneroo are available via the adjacent Halesworth Park precinct. Stage 2 (being roll-out during 2024) includes a purpose-built performing arts centre, dance studio, media classrooms, music classrooms, visual arts studios, lecture theatre, senior school Student Services, two additional double storey learning area blocks and a new autism centre.

The College places a high priority on professional learning, with a focus on a whole of college instructional framework as part of our ‘Alkimos Approach.’ A commitment to self-reflection and growth is highly desirable. The College uses a coaching framework for all planning, review, performance development and classroom observation and feedback. Our staff embrace technology and innovation and enhance their skills with technology to improve work practices. The College provides students with a range of devices available to suit the learning required.

Alkimos College has high expectations of the student cohort to ensure all students are well prepared for their future, and have the opportunities to develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to achieve their potential. This is complemented by a strong focus on student engagement and mental health and wellbeing, through our bespoke Anchor Program. Alkimos College has a Department endorsed Specialised Autism Learning Program and a Gifted and Talented Academic Selective Entrance Program. In addition we have an academic extension pathway and a Learning Support pathway in Years 7-10 for MESH.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

Eligibility and training requirements

 Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
