Job description

Advertised Vacancy Number: IPS/SA897269

This is six (6) months, full-time position commencing Term 3, 2024 with possible extension.

Ashdale Secondary College (SC) is seeking a committed and effective leader to join our Student Services Leadership team in the role of Program Coordinator. We are seeking an individual who inspires passion for learning in others, with a strong focus on pastoral care. Ashdale SC is a distinctive, world class, educational community of excellence where all students are motivated to strive to achieve their best and to realise their potential. The College has a comprehensive Student Services team including two Program Coordinators, Year Coordinators and a range of specialist staff who support the needs of our students.

The College is seeking a person who has the capacity to work in either the Senior or Junior areas of Student Services responsibility. Portfolios will be divided depending upon the strengths of the candidate and needs of the College and therefore flexibility and adaptability are key attributes required of the candidate.

As a school leader and member of a large Student Services team the Program Coordinator plays a pivotal role by ensuring that the school vision, purpose and values are realised for the student cohort. Providing effective leadership of the allocated cohorts, along with the line management of Year Coordinators for these cohorts, is a key element of this role. Working with colleagues, you should be responsible for the analysis of student academic, attendance and behavioural data and the implementation of actions in order to enhance student outcomes. The successful applicant will ideally play a lead role in the strategic planning and operational logistics for key College events along with a supporting role in other College priorities.

Ashdale SC provides high level of care and support for all students. The successful applicant should lead a high performing Student Services Team ensuring an effective and coordinated approach to supporting students to achieve success and reach their full potential. This may include providing case management of students in their cohorts as well as managing and ensuring appropriate support and documentation is provided. High level interpersonal and communication skills are important to liaise with teachers, parents, visiting teachers and external agencies as required.

The College focuses on student engagement and wellbeing to ensure students always feel valued. Our House system plays a pivotal role in recognising and rewarding positive behaviour, academic achievements, and active participation in extracurricular activities. Our systems are designed to foster connectedness and a profound sense of belonging enriching the experiences of our students, parents, and the wider community by reinforcing the values of respect, cooperation, and independence that Ashdale SC upholds.

Positive public relations skills are integral, as the role includes liaising with parents and government and non-government agencies. Adopting and facilitating inclusive practices and building positive relationships with students, staff and the community are important components of the role. Our ideal candidate will have a high level of skill working with high achieving students, students from diverse backgrounds, those with individual educational differences and those exhibiting challenging behaviours. The successful applicant will ideally work with commitment to whole college approaches and initiatives and have a strong evidence-based approach.

Students at Ashdale are equipped with new blends of skills and knowledge necessary to achieve their individual potential throughout their lives. They develop the capabilities necessary for healthy living and lifelong learning. They build social and emotional resilience, supported by clear, ethical and effective pastoral care. This ensures students are given the opportunities to develop the confidence they need to play an active part in the life of their school, family, community and nation while being successfully prepared for future transitions from school to work or further study.
