This is a Twelve (12) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 2, 2024 with possible extension and/or permanency. 

Warnbro Community High School (CHS) is seeking a highly capable and passionate Program Coordinator to join our Student Services team. The successful applicant will ideally have outstanding communication and leadership skills and will be required to work collaboratively with all members of the Student Services team to support the health and wellbeing of students.

The Program CoordinatorStudent Services, will be responsible for the behaviour, attendance, and social/emotional wellbeing of cohorts of students.The successful applicant will ideally have knowledge of the Positive Behaviour in Schools framework and a strong understanding of data informed practice.  

This position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills as the successful applicant will work effectively with many stakeholders across the school and wider community.  This includes, but is not limited to, parents/carers, teachers, other schools, external agencies and community groups. Ideally, they would understand Trauma Informed Practice, have a restorative approach to conflict and be able to apply their knowledge to broker the best outcomes for students through their outstanding complex case management skills.

The Program CoordinatorStudent Services is a member of the College senior leadership team and contributes to whole school review and strategic planning. They will also be responsible for performance development of non-teaching staff and have the ability to utilise a growth coaching approach to mentor staff on a need’s basis.

Situated 50 km south of Perth, Warnbro CHS is located in the beach-side communities of Warnbro and Port Kennedy. WCHS provides a vibrant and nurturing learning environment that takes a holistic approach to the growth and development of our students. Warnbro CHS is focused on improving student outcomes through meeting students at their point of need.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

Eligibility and training requirements

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
