About the Walking Together Program

The Walking Together program embodies a family-centric, trauma-informed approach, focusing on reducing and preventing violence while strengthening intimate partner and family relationships. We provide individual and family support for individuals aged 13 to 24, working within Domestic, Family & Sexual Violence Frameworks and with Stakeholders. Our program ensures youth are central to the process, empowering them to be well-informed and self-determined at every decision-making juncture.

About the Opportunity

Join us at Katherine Women’s Crisis Centre for a meaningful opportunity as a full-time Program Coordinatorfor our Walking Together Program, based in Katherine, NT.

Your role carries a profound responsibility. You'll be the pillar of support, and guidance to the team and clients. Ensuring our clients' needs are met while embracing the core values and principles of our organisation.

Reporting to the CEO, your commitment to maintaining professional standards, aligning with the Organisational Policies and Procedures, Principles and Values, Government Policies and Legislation, and keeping the team well-informed is crucial.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing and managing the implementation and delivery of the Walking Together program in Katherine and close surrounds
  • Developing and motivating a professional client-focused team, ensuring quantifiable performance and service delivery guidelines
  • Coordinating, supervising, and directing Walking Together staff, ensuring client needs are met and funding obligations/targets are achieved
  • Efficiently managing program resources to promote best practices and service delivery efficiency
  • Building strong links with Aboriginal groups, the community, and stakeholders, facilitating integrated services and access for community members and organisations
  • Participating in end-to-end recruitment, supporting staff retention, and ensuring diversity and inclusion
  • Ensuring accurate documentation, timely reporting, and proactive management of program operations to meet funding requirements and milestones
More About You

To join our Organisation in this position, you must have a minimum of a tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social work, Social Science, or related social and community services discipline.

Candidates must have current Working with Children and National Police Check, along with a valid Driver's License, proven knowledge of DFSV legislation (NT and Australian).

The following skills and experience will be strong assets:

  • Experience in the delivery of healthy relationships programs or similar
  • Expertise in trauma-informed practice and working within frameworks
  • Proven ability to manage staff effectively to achieve best practices and good outcomes
  • Experience in advocacy and knowledge of family violence theory and frameworks
  • Understanding of health and wellbeing issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Experience in providing support for clients dealing with trauma related to domestic, family and sexual violence, preferably within a community or health organisation
