About the Role
The Program Development OfficerBusiness Processes (PDO-BP) is part of the Research Infrastructure team within RIC that supports the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) (DVCR) to deliver on the University’s ambitions for research and innovation, as articulated in Advancing Melbourne 2030.

This is a 12-month professional development opportunity, covering this currently vacant role in the research infrastructure team. As Program Development Officer you will primarily supports this portfolio through the provision of high-quality coordination, along with project and strategy development for the University’s state-of-the-art research infrastructure portfolio.

You will work to advance the implementation of the University’s collaborative research infrastructure strategy to improve the Business Processes that underpin the University’s research infrastructure and platform provisioning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing high quality project administration/coordination to the portfolio of activities delivered by the RIC Research Infrastructure team
  • Strategic analysis and development of Business Processes to improve the coordination and efficiency of Research Platform operations
  • Assisting with annual space, budgeting and reporting processes

Who we are looking for
We’re looking for someone with demonstrated project management capability and high level attention to detail. You will have excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to liaise and work effectively with stakeholders at multiple levels.

You will also have: 

  • A tertiary degree in a technical discipline such as Science, Engineering, Biomedical with subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Experience in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of complex datasets and the subsequent presentation of findings and recommendations
  • Ability to conceptualise complex project information, to work with and manage ambiguity and to identify and follow up issues

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.

The Research Infrastructure team, part of the Office of Research Management within RIC, provides strategic and operational support to the research infrastructure ecosystem across the University including operational and development support for research platforms and support to strategically important, high value funding and commercial development opportunities across the University, to deliver high quality research outcomes for the University – this is done in close partnership with Chancellery (Research and Enterprise).
