The Opportunity

Do you have a background in Respiratory Physiology and are looking for an opportunity to utilise your skills to improve the lung health of kids? 

Our Children’s Lung Health Team, here at the Telethon Kids Institute, aims to help all kids breathe better, from infancy through to early adult life, by investigating lung growth and development, with a focus on the Respiratory Physiology of childhood diseases e.g. chronic lung disease of prematurity, Cystic Fibrosis and bronchiectasis. 

We are now seeking a Program Manager to join the team to support our research efforts across multiple projects, providing leadership and mentorship to our staff and students and managing key stakeholder relationships and collaborations.   

Reporting to one of our Team Leads and working alongside our other Program Manager, you will work closely with research teams at the Telethon Kids Institute and Perth Children’s Hospital as well as external collaborators to facilitate the allocation of resources, training of staff and collection of high-quality data while maintaining optimal care for trial participants. 

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring and managing data quality to ensure data integrity and adherence to regulations across research projects.
  • Preparing contracts/research agreements for activities to be carried out using our Respiratory Physiology platform.
  • Managing budgets and financial records. 
  • Facilitating local, national, and international collaborations and networks. 

A key focus of this position will be to support, train and develop our team members so this position would suit someone with a passion to build capacity and share knowledge with others. 

Based in our modern office in Nedlands, this full-time position will be offered for 12 months. The possibility of flexibility in FTE and contract duration can be discussed with the successful candidate.

About You

This is a diverse and rewarding role that would suit someone with previous experience working as a respiratory physiologist. 

Additionally, to be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in the following: 

  • Bachelor of Science (Health or Physiology) with Honours or equivalent
  • Certified Respiratory Function Scientist (CRFS), or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to perform specialist assessments of respiratory function in both children and adults in accordance with internationally recognised guidelines.
  • Experience managing a quality assurance programme for a Respiratory Physiology Laboratory.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate a number of projects within a research environment and sound knowledge of GCP and applicable regulatory guidelines highly desirable. 
  • Prior experience in managing a team would be advantageous but is not essential for this role.
