Purpose of the role
The Program Manager is a specialist SME role within the Corporate Services business that delivers strategic specialist support for the Group CRO and facilitates the delivery of the strategic projects and changes in Corporate Service This role will provide technical expertise in project management within the risk and compliance space and be accountable for the program management and project management for the risk strategy program delivery, leading and facilitating internal and external stakeholders.
The purpose of the role is to lead key risk and compliance project pieces for the Group CRO in all aspects of oversight and delivery of the Corporate Services (Group Risk) strategy, project management leadership of the risk strategic initiatives.
Position Accountabilities
The role is accountable for:
Project Planning and Execution:
- Develop detailed project plans outlining tasks, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Lead project teams in the execution of initiatives related to risk management, compliance, and process improvement.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
Risk Management:
- Conduct risk assessments for projects, identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that project plans account for and address potential risks.
- Implement risk monitoring and control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
Stakeholder Communication:
- Communicate project objectives, progress, and outcomes to relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Provide regular updates to executive leadership on project status and potential risks.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the context of risk management and compliance.
- Work with teams to streamline workflows, enhance efficiency, and ensure best practices are followed.
- Implement changes in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
Quality Assurance:
- Establish and implement quality assurance measures for project deliverables.
- Conduct reviews and audits to ensure that projects meet established standards and compliance requirements.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential risks affecting the organization.
- Analyze the impact and likelihood of identified risks to prioritize and focus on the most critical issues.
- Collaborate with relevant departments to gather information and insights for comprehensive risk evaluations.
Crisis Management:
- Develop and maintain crisis management plans to address unforeseen events.
- Lead the organization's response in crisis situations, coordinating with relevant stakeholders.
- Implement strategies to minimize the impact of crises on the organization's operations and reputation.
Communication and Reporting:
- Communicate risk-related information to executive leadership, department heads, and relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare and present regular reports on the organization's risk profile, mitigation efforts, and emerging risks.
- Foster a culture of risk awareness and accountability throughout the organization
- Develops and prepares relevant reports and papers to Business, Executive and Board Committees as per the direction of the Group CRO across any risk and compliance matters
- Support the Group CRO in reviewing all Executive and Board Risk Committee papers to ensure alignment with the approach of the Group CRO and consistent across all papers; including engaging with the Corporate Services leadership team in providing feedback and challenge to the papers from a risk and compliance perspective.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Risk Management, or a related field. PMP or relevant certifications are a plus.
- Proven experience as a Project Manager with a focus on risk and compliance.
- In-depth knowledge of risk management principles, compliance frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- At least 5 years insurance operations and/or CRO support experience with a relevant tertiary education.
- At least 1 year of technical experience and understanding of risk management and compliance, including delivery of risk governance activities.
- Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills, including writing board and executive papers.
- Ability to build effective relationships with executive support, senior leaders and other key stakeholders.
