Project Accountant - Tier 1 Mining Client - Perth based with flexible working arrangements
Our client, a leading engineering consultancy, is looking for a Project Accountant to join their team. They currently own one of the strongest project portfolios in WA, across the Mining, Oil & Gas, and Energy sectors. Due to their variety and stable project pipeline, they offer long-term contracts which they are keen to turn into ongoing or permanent arrangements according to your preference.
In this position, you will be part of a long-term scope of projects for a Tier 1 Mining client with a unique scope that could open up other future opportunities for your career. Additionally, you can expect flexible working options such as WFH or flexible work hours that can leave room for your personal commitments.
What you’ll do
- Undertake Project Billing (invoicing) and revenue generation processes Understand and ensure compliance to contractual obligations in relation to invoicing.
- Undertake system-based functions relating to billing and invoicing activities.
- Carry out week-end review of project Revenue Recognition by running reports within our clients financial systems.
- Prepare accurate and timely draft and final invoices and credit notes and collate back up documentation consistent with agreed contractual/client expectations.
- Provide periodic and ad hoc reporting/analytical support, as required.
- Maintain good relationships and liaise with Project Manager(s), Cost Controller(s), BSC staff and Finance to ensure information is being effectively exchanged and processed.
- Prepare and maintain WIP reconciliation records.
- Maintain filing systems and ensure they are up to date.
What you’ll have
- Experienced in project accounting in the same or similar industry.
- A recognised diploma, certificate or equivalent qualification with an emphasis in quantitative discipline in accounts receivable, invoicing, finance and accounting.
- Experience with a large ERP environment preferably Oracle R12 and intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and proficient use of the most common Microsoft applications.
- A high level of understanding of accounts receivable processes.
- Strong team focus, good organisational skills, good time management and high attention to detail.
- Able to identify issues, problems and opportunities; make timely decisions; develop appropriate and innovative solutions, trustworthy and ask for assistance if required.
- Able to work on multiple projects of various size and complexity, able to work effectively in small to large multi-disciplinary teams and share and transfer knowledge within teams.
