As an essential part of the commercial/finance team, the Project Accountant supports the Finance Manager by delivering critical financial, commercial, and administrative assistance to Senior Management and the Project delivery team.This role is pivotal in performing financial analysis, reporting, accurate forecasting, and ensuring project financial compliance, while closely interacting with Operations and Engineering staff across various projects. Ideal for someone with robust accounting and Excel skills and a commitment to improving business processes, this position ensures exceptional financial project performance through precise and timely reporting, proactive analysis, and comprehensive support.Key responsibilities:Review weekly payroll outputs for accuracy and cost management, ensure the accuracy of monthly balance sheet accounts, maintain the integrity of the general ledger through processing, transaction management, month-end reconciliation, and consolidation, and actively lead and participate in developing internal systems and processes for continuous improvement and efficiency.Involve in project budgeting to ensure accuracy and clear target setting, manage planning and forecasting processes by defining deliverables, timing, and processes, develop and implement financial forecasting models and tools to predict operating results and improve efficiency, and coordinate with the Finance Manager on internal reporting and the development of management reporting and analysis of the company’s financial and operating performance.Track project performance by identifying, monitoring, and communicating influential metrics to key stakeholders, ensure forecast accuracy in collaboration with senior project staff by understanding and explaining key variances, provide commentary on project monthly results and changes affecting company outcomes, and manage a register of financial risks and opportunities across all projects to ensure stakeholder awareness and proactive management for optimal outcomes.Required Skills and CompetenciesDegree qualified in Accounting and/or Finance with proven experience of financial and management experience in project financial operations, ideally within the construction industry.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across cultures and interact at all organizational levels, including operational staff on-site.Excellent problem-solving and creative skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.Solid foundation in construction/industrial accounting discipline and advanced Excel skillsACCIONA has been given the Top Employer 2022, 2023 & 2024 certification in Australia, which certifies the company's commitment to excellence in human resources management and those who focus on putting their people first through their exceptional HR policies.
