The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned Project Development Manager with excellent organizational and communication skills and a strong background in Project development to lead the planning, development and execution of large-scale Solar & BESS projects across Australia, in QLD/NSW/VIC.
Reporting directly to the MD of the Australian subsidiary, this is an independent position with full flexibility to work from home. Business travel will be required as part of the role.
The Responsibilities
- Identification & Origination of Solar, BESS or Hybrid projects. Lead efforts in site identification and selection, environmental impact assessments, feasibility studies.
- Manage land acquisition or long-term lease for the project, landholder relationships, and negotiate land use agreements.
- Stakeholder liaison and community consultation, managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Develop project plans, schedules and scope of works, manage contracts, budgets, agreements and lead negotiations.
- Undertaking risk assessment, environmental, cultural and heritage impact studies, resource assessment, grid connection and project design activities in collaboration with internal and external SME (Subject Matter Experts).
- Manage all aspects of the permitting process, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal solar and BESS energy project regulations.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of project applications and licenses required for development.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, utilities, landowners, communities, and regulatory bodies, to gain support and navigate the permitting and approval process.
The Selection Criteria
To be successfully selected for this position, you will be familiar with the full process of Project development in QLD/NSW/VIC, know how to efficiently communicate with AEMO and work collaboratively with regulators and technical specialist teams to secure project approvals, as well as:
- Over 3 years of experience in Renewable Energy, with minimum1 years' experience specifically in early-stage Project development for large-scale Solar and/or BESS projects.
- History of effective Stakeholder and Community Engagement, establishing trusting relationships to assist with the planning and permitting process.
- Proven track record of successfully securing Solar & BESS project approvals.
- Deep understanding of the relevant regulations, policies and permitting processes associated with Solar Farm and Energy Storage projects for NSW, QLD & VIC.
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering/ Environmental Science/ Law/ Business or related.
- Understanding of state government regulations in development application and technical requirements in grid connections is highly regarded.
