This firm is a provider of engineering and project services to the food, beverage, dairy, defence, and industrial sectors - their customer relationships are very tight knit and they are deeply entrenched within the organisations they serve. They have a client based in Tasmania who has a significant site based capital demand over the next couple of years at one of their established food production sites, and they are seeking a dedicated Project Engineer for the duration. The contract will run for 12 months initially, with the expectation that it will extend beyond this - the customer has other sites around Australia so it is possible the contract could extend to projects at other sites.
About the role
As a site Project Engineer you'll be splitting time between the firm's Melbourne based offices and the customer site in Tasmania - the profile of this travel will generally be weekly, but really just depends on what's going on within your project portfolio as to how you manage the travel. For example, there will be periods where you'll be doing installation and commissioning which would require more site presence. Within the role you'll manage the project pipeline from end end - you'll be developing business cases and capital proposals for approval before delivering those projects through to completion and handover, ensuring the original scope is achieved and generates ROI. Because you're the main Project Engineer on site, the project work will be broad and varied, from new lines and new automation through to site services, utilities, warehousing and supply chain projects, and beyond.
About you
We're seeking someone with experience developing and delivering capital projects at an FMCG manufacturing site:
- Engineering degree (likely mechanical or process)
- Background as a Project Engineer or similar (Senior PE, PM)
- Experience at FMCG manufacturing sites (food, beverage, dairy)
- Ability to travel regularly (if not based in Tasmania)
If the role sounds like it would suit you, I can pay a generous hourly rate that is in excess of what you'd expect to earn in a permanent role, and of course you can expect all travel and accommodation is covered. If the travel or location suits you, you'll have a balanced role between site and office locations. Longer term, given the firm has a range of clients in different sectors, you may have the opportunity to significnatly diversify your experience and get exposed to a broader range of opportunities.
