Project Engineer

Alchemy Recruitment is currently working alongside a successful natural energy resource provider who is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer in the Mackay Coal Fields.

DUTIES REQUIRED IN THIS ROLE:

• Design through to execution of electrical projects related to the Capital Project portfolio of the client 
• Technically challenge the Engineering Consultant(s) to ensure lean, fit for purpose and safe engineering solutions without jeopardizing project progress
• Identification and standardisation of the appropriate engineering standards for the program scope to drive lean, fit for purpose and safe design
• Managing Internal engineering documents 
• Work with key stakeholders to achieve project deliverables
• Identification of improvement initiatives to increase capital efficiency, productivity, and safety
• Safety in Design (SiD) processes management
• Organisation and management of technical governance and assurance processes;
• Management of engineering processes

EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience delivering capital projects within a brownfield open-cut coal mining environment or similar heavy industry (i.e. oil and gas, rail, energy) 
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Strong focus on safety
• Previous experience working on mine infrastructure projects 
• Previous experience working on the delivery of projects
• The ability to manage the engineering design process and prepare project deliverables including; scope of work, specifications, execution plans, cost estimates and schedule.
• Strong contractor management skills
• Experience in or familiarity with project/contractor management systems will be advantageous.
• Previous experience working in a matrix functional organization is highly desirable.
• Effective stakeholder engagement and communication skills will be critical to success

This is an ongoing contract position based in Brisbane/Mackay Coal Fields (hybrid), offering an attractive rate, on a 5/2 roster with FIFO and camp accommodation and meals. Working on a Capital Project Team overseeing contractors for a leading mining giant. There is some WFH flexibility from the Brisbane Head Office periods.
