Your role at AE Smith
The Project Engineer/Junior Project Manager will enhance the provision of on-site engineering services and technical support by collaborating with site supervision staff to ensure efficient completion of short-term planning and programming of works.
Specifically, the Project Engineer/Junior Project Manager will be responsible for managing the mechanical services packages on projects across Northern Queensland.
What we see as your role?
- Ensure adherence to technical specifications, relevant laws, permissions, and standards, as well as the AES Risk Management process for the completion of tasks.
- Oversee and manage comprehensive job planning and scheduling, encompassing short-term and intermediate activities for construction projects, subject to approval by the Project Manager.
- Input data and engage in minor on-site design while monitoring and suggesting alterations to design specifics to streamline the construction process.
- Utilise professional judgment to resolve engineering challenges such as construction techniques, design modifications, and engineering protocols.
- Display proficiency in financial management, including a track record of cost reduction and meeting budgetary requirements.
- Validate subcontractors' claims and proposed variations.
- Conduct cost monitoring and estimating, as directed by the Project Manager.
- Manage project drawing registers effectively.
- Implement and communicate risk controls and action plans throughout project execution.
- Demonstrate reporting proficiency concerning project performance, compliance, defects, and non-conformance issues.
- Conduct thorough safety, environmental, and quality risk assessments—both quantitative and qualitative—to ensure the satisfactory quality of contract deliverables.
- Display adeptness in people management by effectively overseeing and directing the work and performance of teams and subcontractors to attain project objectives.
- Perform all tasks in accordance with AES policies, procedures, systems, and reporting protocols
What we are looking for from you:
- A recently completed, or in your final year of your bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science, Building Construction, Construction Management or equivalent
- Previous experience in Construction management and specific technical skills relevant working in a HVAC business
- A history of broad project planning, development, and review of complex projects
- Proficiency in managing documents and records, reporting progress and project performance, and ensuring compliance with relevant procedures and protocols.
