Job description

About Us:

Spenda is an integrated business platform that takes the headache out of chasing payments and enables businesses to sell better and get paid faster. We serve as both a software solutions provider and a payment processor and deliver the essential infrastructure to streamline business processes before, during and after the payment event.

With over 20 years’ experience in building solutions that improve transactional efficiency between businesses, Spenda is applicable to any business that needs to make or receive a payment. Our software enables the smooth flow of funds throughout a supply chain or network of buyers and sellers, from producer to end-consumer.

About the role:

Spenda is seeking an enthusiastic team member to join our Development department in Perth. You will be working with a strong and supportive team and as such you must be able to work effectively in a team environment. Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead agile development teams as a Project Lead, facilitating daily stand-up meetings, sprint planning sessions, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor to the team, promoting agile principles and practices and fostering a culture of collaboration, transparency, and accountability.
  • Estimating, scheduling and ensuring that all resources planning requirements are sufficient to provide the required levels of availability and support.
  • Create and maintain project plans, sprint backlogs, and release schedules, tracking progress and identifying risks and dependencies.
  • Reporting on the progress of administration and applications development against time frames and budget.
  • Overseeing the administration and efforts and standards of all applications development staff and providing guidance where required.
  • Act as a liaison between the development team and internal stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, scope changes, and potential impacts.
  • Remove impediments and roadblocks hindering the team's progress, escalating issues as needed to ensure timely resolution.
About You

The successful candidate will have outstanding organisational and communication skills. The ability to prioritize and meet critical deadlines with a level of high attention to detail. Whilst previous experience in a similar position would be essential, equally as important will be your demonstrated experience in the following areas:

  • A tertiary qualification in Computer Science or another relevant field
  • 5+ years in software development, with at least 3 years general IT experience
  • Strong understanding of agile principles and methodologies, with hands-on experience implementing Scrum, Kanban, or other agile frameworks.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members and foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Proficiency in agile project management tools such as Jira, Trello, or Azure DevOps.
  • Communication skills.
  • Excellent consulting skills.
  • Experience in a leadership or project management role, with a track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.

Additional experience that would be preferred but not mandatory includes:

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification or equivalent agile certification (e.g., PSM, PMI-ACP)

We welcome applicants who may not meet all criteria but possess a majority of the qualifications to apply, as we value diverse perspectives and recognise the potential for growth and development within our dynamic team.

Why Join Spenda:

You will be joining Spenda during an exciting period of growth. Your role will be dynamic and rewarding, where you will become an integral part of our team. The role is yours to mould and there will be opportunities to develop and grow along with our business.

Here at Spenda, we offer:
