Role Description:

The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of engineering and design projects under various frame agreements, client satisfaction, repeat business and growth.

As a key member of the Sedgman Onyx team you will work closely and need to communicate effectively with the Project Delivery GM’s and other team members to ensure the company’s reputation for high quality services and client satisfaction is maintained.

The Engineering Project Manager shall be capable of managing a team of project engineers delivering studies, engineering, design and support to procurement, construction and commissioning activities managed by the Client. Projects will typically be small to medium in nature and will be completed by Sedgman Onyx’s engineers and designers with the use of third party specialist sub-consultants as required. The Engineering Project Manager will work closely with one or more of the Project Delivery GM’s to achieve specific Client targets. Critical to this is Client satisfaction, effective management of opportunities, client expectations and control of scope, schedule, budget and risk. As such the Project Manager must have a good knowledge of the Client’s operations, engineering and project controls.

The Engineering Project Manager shall effectively manage the assigned Project Engineers within his/her team to:

• manage resources and activities to ensure projects are delivered to performance targets and client satisfaction is achieved.
• escalate any unresolved issues to the relevant Project Delivery GM.
• manage project team resources.
• provide project oversight.
• provide leadership in key areas such as project delivery.
• assist with project team development.

The role will require although not be limited to:
 

• Portfolio management of multi-discipline engineering and design work scopes delivered to budget, quality and schedule, and repeatedly achieving Client satisfaction, repeat business and revenue growth.
• Acting as the escalation contact for Client(s) in relation to their ongoing work and prospects: being able to communicate effectively with Client representatives to build Client confidence in the capabilities of Sedgman Onyx to manage a broad portfolio of projects.
• Coordination of estimates and proposals for project opportunities.
• Liaison with the project controls manager and engineering and design managers to kick off new projects.
• Liaison with the project controls manager for the development, maintenance and reporting of project schedules, project budget and document control systems.
• Liaison with the engineering and design managers on project resourcing.
• Ensuring that project risks are managed and that work carried out meets Sedgman Onyx quality management guidelines.
• Mentoring, training and development of team.

What are we looking for?

• Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Recognised PM qualification such as PMP
• Demonstrated 15 years’ experience in the mining industry with most of this in a multi-discipline design environment.
• Demonstrated 5 years’ experience as a senior project engineer or Project Manager.
• Portfolio management experience
• Highly organised, presentable and trustworthy – delivers on expectations.
• Clear and concise verbal and written communication
• Team and stakeholder management
