About the Role
The role of the Project Manager is to:
- facilitate, manage and lead a team of curriculum leaders and teachers from nominated schools to develop curriculum resources that support the embedded Aboriginal and Torres Islander histories and cultures cross curriculum perspective.
- liaise and negotiate with key stakeholders including members of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and other government departments and agencies to ensure the cultural inclusivity, appropriateness and sensitivity of the curriculum materials.
- develop project plans and work schedules that include scopes of work that detail product requirements, milestones and timeframes for delivery and publication.
- collaborate with the Curriculum, Teaching and Learning publishing and production team to ensure curriculum materials meet contemporary design principles and reflect best practice.
The ideal applicant will have:
- demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, histories and cultures.
- demonstrated education or curriculum development project management skills.
- proven high level communication and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes of strategic policies and /or specific projects.
- demonstrated ability to effectively lead a diverse team, and manage complex demands and workflows to ensure delivery of desired outcomes within set timeframes.
Mandatory Requirements for and Identified Role:
It is a genuine occupational requirement for Identified roles that the position be filled by an Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander person as set out in Section 7 of the Anti Discrimination Act 1991 for the purposes contained in Section 25 of that Act.
Verification of Aboriginality and/or Torres Strait Island heritage
For administrative purposes, in relation to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role, an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is a person who identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is either:
- of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent;
- accepted as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community in which he or she lives.
By definition a person who is not an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cannot be employed (on any basis) to perform the duties of an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role.
Applicants to this position may have to provide confirmation of their Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage. Requesting proof of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage from applicants helps to make sure that this intention is honoured.
