Salary range: $58,500 - $90,250 p/a based on experience / skills

About The Position
As Project Officer you will work alongside our Waterways team members to lead the design, development, and implementation of Water Quality Improvement initiatives within the Mackay Whitsunday Isaac region. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with partners and stakeholders in developing, coordinating, and reporting on waterways management issues. The position will have a strong focus on the delivery of streambank remediation activities across the region, read more on our existing waterways projects here.
About You
This is a highly varied and fast-paced role, requiring an energetic and self-motivated multi-tasker with the ability to coordinate activities and outcomes across Water Quality Improvement project areas simultaneously. Prior experience in an NRM; streambank remediation works; civil construction, scientific or government-based roles will be highly regarded. We are looking for a team player with a positive and engaging personality. Salary is based on skill and knowledge level.
Requirements of the Role
The position will involve (but not limited to) the following activities:
• Streambank remediation works, including overseeing engineered construction works
• Coordination of revegetation works
• Contractor management
• Site monitoring and reporting
• Project and budget management
• Landholder and stakeholder engagement
• Development and delivery of workshops and field days
• Development of communication and educational products such as case studies and fact sheets
• Water sampling
• Participate in developing new project ideas
• Writing grant/funding applications
Selection Criteria
• Tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as Natural Resource Management, Applied Science, Agri-Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management or proven on the job experience.
• Demonstrated contract, contractor management, budgeting and project management skills including the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and budgets, including high level of experience with technology (Microsoft suite and other applications).
• Demonstrated skills in data collection and management systems to produce data products to meet reporting and planning needs.
• Ability to develop a strong rapport with landholders and other stakeholders.
• Good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate with influence to a diverse client base including farmers, agricultural industry groups, government and contractors.
• Experience with event management and delivery of communication products.
• Experience in field based environmental monitoring, including but not limited to water quality sampling, vegetation assessments, soil sampling and land condition assessments.
• Knowledge and understanding of riverine environments and/or erosion processes (gully, streambank, and hillslope) and how these relate to land management practices and water quality outcomes (desirable).
• Blue Card (working with children) (or ability to obtain).
• QLD Construction White Card (or ability to obtain).
• Current Driver’s Licence.
