Job description

We are looking for a Workforce DesignProject Officer in our Organisation Design Branch. The role will be responsible for providing professional advice, delivering complex projects, contributing to strategic planning and providing leadership and mentorship to team members.
Apply your curiosity and design thinking to a people and culture project role with great scope. You will deliver strategic workforce initiatives that bridge the gap between where our workforce is today and our aspirational culture. You will work collaboratively with the business and closely with executives to build relationships, develop strategies and frameworks, drive implementation and measure impact. Your work programs could include organisation and job design, reward and recognition, capability and leadership development in the department that is driven to set the standard for great employee experiences.
The key duties of the position include
Reporting to an Assistant Director in the Workforce Design Section, our Project Officer will be responsible for:
  • Delivering strategies, frameworks, programs and projects to deliver meaningful and measurable outcomes to DEWR people and culture,
  • Leading and coaching team members to build expert capability by fostering a culture of curiosity, respect and excellence,
  • Contributing to branch leadership including work planning, resource management and aligning priorities with business outcomes,
  • Providing complex advice and problem solving on strategic workforce management matters,
  • Contributing to the strategic direction for people and culture initiatives in line with broader Australian Public Service (APS) programs, such as the APS Reform priorities and actions,
  • Engaging with key stakeholders and establishing partnerships to implement initiatives,
  • Fostering a positive risk culture through understanding and engaging with risk, briefing up on key issues and recommending risk treatments as required,
  • Contributing to innovation by continuously evaluating and improving ways of working, taking an agile approach to managing change.
