As an APS6 level Property Project Officer, you will work closely with the broader property team to develop property solutions and business cases including new policy proposals relating to the overseas property network.
To be successful in this role you'll be highly experienced in property management and/or project delivery and be capable of formulating business cases, developing project programs and contracts, and undertaking complex property-related procurements. You will have strong communication skills and demonstrate an ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with a range of stakeholders.

The key duties of the position include
Under limited direction and guidance, the Property Project Officer will support and assist the Director and Assistant Director to:
- Initiate projects by assisting to define and scope deliverables, analysis of options, determining milestones, deliverables, risks and facilitate the development cost estimates.
- Coordinate inputs from relevant areas and stakeholders and engage requisite service providers to develop fully costed business cases (for departmental executive approval) and New Policy Proposals (NPPs) for government approval.
- Coordinate feasibility studies, including functional design briefs and design management, technical and works specifications, user requirements and technical due diligence studies for both the owned and leased estate. formulating and implementing recommendations including incorporation of technical recommendations.
- Develop project briefs to progress concept design and master planning activities to inform project inception.
- Investigate opportunities for savings and efficiencies in the overseas estate.
- Coordinate the drafting, editing and preparation of regular OPO reporting, including:
- perform complex procedural, operational, administrative and business support activities that contribute towards agreed outcomes within established priorities.
- investigate, respond to project issues and risks within the remit of property projects and programs. Escalate to senior officials as required.
- provide advice and guidance on administrative and as appropriate technical matters to senior management, fellow colleagues and other parts of the department in a manner that aligns with business and departmental outcomes and complies with relevant legislation, regulations, policies, guidelines and procedures.
- develop, analyse and collate written submissions, briefs, reports, minutes and other correspondence with internal and external stakeholders.
- organise appointments, correspondence and communications in a timely fashion and in light of competing priorities.
- effectively manage the production, dissemination and storage of information (as required) to facilitate improved communication between the department and its stakeholders (both internal and external).
- Ensure that project support is delivered aligns with business needs, departmental objectives and long-term strategic goals.
- Understand and operate relevant departmental operating systems and guide others in the use of such systems when necessary.
