Job Description
BESIX Watpac is seeking a Project Safety Coordinator for a large meat-processing facility project in Rockhampton.
This role will be responsible for:
- Assist the Project Manager in the development and implementation of the Project Safety Management Plan.
- Conduct operational audits, site observations and inspections, and toolbox talks.
- Investigate all injuries, illnesses and notifiable incidents that arise at the BESIX Watpac workplace or through BESIX Watpac activities related to the project.
- Assist in the development and implementation of emergency procedures for the project.
- Assist in the facilitation of consultation with workers and other duty holders, including employees of subcontractors.
- Maintain project records in accordance with BESIX Watpac's National Safety Management System.
- Assist in the review of Subcontractor OHS performance at the start of the contract through to completion of contract.
Qualifications
The incumbent in this role will require:
- Certificate IV, Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Prior project experience in a Safety Advisor or Coordinator capacity within commercial construction.
- Ability to communicate, influence and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and work effectively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision making skills.
- Proficient computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office.
