About the Opportunity
Flight Centre Travel Group is seeking a highly motivated, qualified solicitor with no less than 3-4 years’ experience in commercial & retail leasing and general property law, gained within either a national law firm or in-house counsel.
The successful applicant will take a key role in management of Flight Centre’s retail and commercial property portfolio within Australia as the dedicated in-house solicitor for Property, reporting to the National Property General Manager and to the Group General Counsel.
This role requires a high level of engagement with a range of internal stakeholders (including senior management, leasing executives, fitout project managers and finance teams), as well as direct interactions with landlords, their solicitors, and other external stakeholders (such as property managers, agents and sub-tenants).
The successful applicant must have:
- Demonstrated experience in drafting and negotiation of various property transactions and effective management of high-volume leasing work (including offer negotiations, leases, variations, fitout agreements and surrenders).
- Proven ability to resolve legal negotiations and disputes in a timely and commercial manner.
- The applicant will be expected to successfully manage both legal risk minimisation and achieving great outcomes for our (internal) clients by meeting key project dates, driving solutions to problems and maintaining excellent rapport with all stakeholders, all while being conscious of cost pressures for the business
- The applicant will also be expected to maintain National lease precedents and strong working relationship with Shopping Centre landlords
- Demonstrated skills in working both independently (as the responsible solicitor) and collaboratively within a team culture.
- The successful applicant must work effectively within the project delivery dynamic of the Property team, and also assist the Group Legal Services team in wider legal matters that interface with property concerns from time to time.
