This is a fantastic opportunity for career advancement in Public Practice accounting with a dynamic and expanding firm on the north end of the Sunshine Coast. Reporting to the practice principal, this role involves working with both local and international clients. Our local clientele encompasses small to medium-sized businesses and superannuation funds, while our international clients—primarily from the Middle East and the sub-continent—will require your expertise as a virtual accountant/financial controller.
The role's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Comprehensive accounting tasks, from data entry to the preparation of financial statements in accordance with both local and international accounting standards, and ensuring compliance with taxation and corporate regulations.
· Full-service accounting for SMSF, including preparation of necessary documentation for auditors.
· Independent liaison and management of both local and international clients to meet their daily accounting needs across various jurisdictions, including the Middle East and the sub-continent.
· As a virtual controller/accountant, you will
o develop and implement policies and procedures for the Finance and Accounts Department to streamline operations and enhance financial management.
o Preparing and finalizing financial reports, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and supporting business development teams by creating financial models for product pricing.
o Providing expert analysis and advice on capital finance proposals to assist in informed decision-making regarding investments and project funding.
o Overseeing tax-related activities, requiring knowledge of both local and international taxation.
o Ensuring the timely completion of financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements, and analyzing performance against budgets.
o Liaising with auditors, managing cash flow planning, and, when necessary, supervising client accounting teams.
o Performing other related ad hoc duties as required.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
· Membership of an IFAC recognized accounting body (e.g., CA, CPA).
· Experience in a Big-4 firm and at least ten years of experience working with international jurisdictions such as the Middle East and the sub-continent in a controller / Manager capacity.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI and Office Suite—particularly Excel and Word.
· Experience and knowledge of BGL 360, Xero for local clients, and MS Dynamics, SAP B1 HANA for international clients.
· Certification in Australian Taxation and familiarity with international taxation in jurisdictions like the Middle East and sub-continent.
· A high level of attention to detail, a diligent nature, and a friendly personality focused on excellent customer service.
· Fluency in English (bilingual preferred) with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
