Independent Timber Supplies is looking for an experienced Purchasing Assistant to join our thriving business. This is a newly vacant position with an incredible opportunity to explore and progress your skills in our industry. Who are we and what we need!
Independent Timber Supplies are a WA business that is locally owned and been operating for over 30 years. We service a range of Project Builders, Custom Builders and Owner Builders with our timber supply and Manufacturing of prefab frames and trusses in the Western Australian building market.
We are seeking an energetic and results driven Purchasing Assistant to maximise our team’s potential through the procurement process. This role will offer you the chance to take on a range of skills with the growth space in purchasing along with being able to showcase your data, administration and people skills by liaising with suppliers and internal clients.
About the role:
- Raise and follow through of purchase orders up to invoice verification for all allocated vendors in a timely manner where deadlines are met.
- Physical Stock takes that provide accurate records.
- Investigate discrepancies and optimise stock holding while showcasing problem solving and solution focused skills.
- Build strong relationships with customers, colleagues, internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with the development and implementation of continuous improvement strategies along with product sourcing.
- Work closely with the operations team to ensure requirements are being met.
- Provide feedback and analysis to the department managers on supplier performance and issues with supply.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure agreed delivery/quality levels are met or exceeded.
- Liaise with shipping agents.
- Champion being a team player, contributor and goal-oriented colleague.
To Successful you will need:
- Skilled with Microsoft Office suite, along with excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Timber or building industry experience trade, TAFE or similar qualifications.
- Experience in a similar/purchasing role with high quality skills.
- Willingness to Drug and Alcohol testing prior to employment and understanding during employment random testing is conducted.
- Wanting a long-term employment with the desire to learn, grow and develop.
- Be able to work Fulltime hours- Monday to Friday – 8.09am to 4.30pm for above award rates!
