Purchasing Officer

This large Australian FMCG Distributor is on the lookout for an experienced Purchasing Officer in Sydney near the CBD.

They offer a flexible working environment with options to work 2 days a week from home as well as early / late start and finish times.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

• Responsible for tracking and managing all shipments from the moment a purchase order (PO) is generated to delivery into the warehouse
• Follow up all documents required for shipping and custom clearance, undertaking accurate analysis of customs entries before approval given and manage IFIP inspection where required
• End to end planning including suggesting order quantities, container utilisation and demand / supply risk mitigation 
• Analyse stock levels and sales v forecast before recommending quantities to be purchased 
• End to end PO management including raise in ERP system as per agreed volume, sharing with supplier and shipping line and entering into supplier portal to agreed timelines
• Track lead times and make recommendations to brand and sales team raising any issues in advance
• Checking invoices against PO ensuring best before date meets minimum requirement
• Verification of tariff codes, freight invoices as per rate card, check detentions on containers 
• Prepare forecast shipment plans for brand partners
• Interpret rolling forecasts and send updates to supplier (as agreed)
• Liaise with key stakeholders to resolve stock and pricing discrepancies
• Track and monitor inbound freight with the freight forwarder
• Prepare updates on issues that relate to the suppliers

Key skills to be successful in this position include:

• Minimum 2 years in a purchasing position (FMCG / food is a bonus)
• Intermediate/Advance skills Excel, Word & Outlook
• Experience in communicating effectively with agreed suppliers and develop relationships based on mutual trust and respect
• Ability to analyse data and communicate to appropriate personnel
• Competent in all aspects of MRP relating to a purchasing role
