What you'll do
- Manage the transport operational execution of the Far North Queensland Direct Rail Operation ensuring carrier delivery service, cost and safety outcomes within State Regional scope.
- Manage the interaction between Woolworths DC operations, 3PL Rail service provider, Stores Stores and 4PL partner.
- Work with 3PL partners to optimise planning, allocation, and fleet utilisation, minimising costs and improving operational efficiencies.
- Manage rail transport operations within budget to provide ongoing service to stores, while meeting cost targets.
- Support the execution of ad hoc and special events store deliveries.
- Lead and mentor a team of 6 direct reports, ensuring multi skilling and development and continuous improvement.
- Actively drive a safety culture ensuring that all business activities and teams within the Rail Operations are compliant with relevant legislation & company policies
What you'll bring
- Proven experience in managing transport operations & 3PL carriers performance, ideally within a large FMCG / Retail environment
- Commercial acumen & experience in managing operational budgets
- Demonstrated personal "hands-on" leadership and coaching skills
- A high level of communication and interpersonal skills, including excellent negotiation & influencing skills at all levels
- Proven capability to effectively manage multiple tasks and operate in a fast moving and challenging environment with competing priorities
- Flexibility to be available for out-of-hours escalations including weekends
