The Quality Assistant (QA) is responsible for supporting the delivery of high quality care at MTHCS by providing coordination and management of quality systems and activities. The Quality Assistant leads the implementation of the organisation’s Quality Plan that aims to strengthen clinical and corporate governance and reliably achieve all accreditation standards and regulatory compliances. The Quality Assistant works in collaboration with Executives and senior employees to deliver quality care and service throughout MTHCS.

- Develop and manage the Quality Plan to guide improvement in the governance of MTHCS.
- Maintain the following information systems to support high quality service delivery
- The Riskman information system including the feedback module, incident module, risk register module and quality register module
- The PROMPT document governance information system
- Care Opinion
- Lead the following quality activities
- The audit system and schedule
- Quality boards and huddles in each of the service areas
- Reporting quality outcomes on key performance indicators for service area meetings, management meetings, executive and operations managers and Board of Directors meetings and committees
- Quality improvement action plans for the directorates and service areas
- Support the executive in the following quality activities
- Management of the governance frameworks and policies and procedures
- Assessment of organisational performance against the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health accreditation requirements
- Assessment of organisational performance against food safety and cleaning standards
- Management of the strategic and operational risk registers
- Maintenance of organisational legal compliance

Section 21 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act 2004, requires an Employer to provide and maintain, so far as is reasonable and practicable, a safe workplace for all employees and ensure that no employee is placed at risk of injury while performing the duties and responsibilities required by their position.
To comply with this obligation, MTHCS requires all candidates/employees to have the mental and physical capacity to safely perform the inherent requirements of the position they are applying for (or have been appointed to).
If a risk is identified and fitness to safely perform the duties of the position needs to be determined, MTHCS with the agreement of the candidate/employee, will arrange an independent medical assessment to determine capacity to safely perform the inherent requirements of the position to minimise the risk of injury or aggravation of any pre-existing condition the candidate/employee may have.
